Suriya's critically acclaimed film 'Jai Bhim' was released on a popular digital platform in November 2021. Suriya shined well in his role as a lawyer reprising the real-life story of Justice Chandru. But now Suriya called his decision to release 'Jai Bhim' on OTT his worst decision. Suriya, who has been busy with the promotions of his next release 'Kanguva', has shared a throwback moment of the actor watching Siruthai Siva's earlier release 'Annaatthe' featuring Rajinikanth in a theatre in his interview with Miss Malini. An old man was enquiring about tickets for 'Jai Bhim' outside the theatre, and Suriya told him that it was an OTT release. But the old man couldn't understand what OTT was. This made Suriya realize releasing 'Jai Bhim' on OTT was his worst decision since the film couldn't reach the target audience due to the digital release.

Directed by T.J. Gnanavel, 'Jai Bhim' addresses social justice and caste discrimination, with Suriya playing a lawyer fighting for the rights of a marginalized tribal community. Jai Bhim received widespread praise for its powerful story and performances, resonating deeply with audiences and sparking conversations on social issues. The film’s release on the OTT platform made it accessible globally, where it gained significant viewership and acclaim. Suriya's 'Jai Bhim' was shortlisted for India's official selection for the 2022 Oscars, but it failed to make it to the final selection.

'Kanguva' is scheduled to release on November 14, and the periodic action drama is gearing up for a pan-Indian release.
