News has been doing the rounds that
Sunny Deol will be playing the lead in the Hindi remake of
Suriya’s S3, which will be directed by
Ravi K Chandran
. We have now learnt that the actor will be signing on the dotted lines sometime next month. A source close to the actor, who is hailed as
Bollywood
’s dhai kilo ka haath (yes, we are drawing parallels with Suriya’s ‘Ongi adicha ondra tonne weight da’ line), says, “Sunny has heard the script and he loved the way the story travels. He has expressed interest in doing the remake of the film and will most likely be signing the deal next month.”
Gnanavel Raja, who produced the Tamil film, told us that he has given the Hindi remake right of S3 to Dhaval Jayantilal Gada’s company that co-produced the film and that Ravi K Chandran had been roped in to direct the film in Bollywood.
Interestingly, the first film in Hari’s Singam franchise was remade in Hindi as
Singham
by director Rohit Shetty with Ajay Devgn. A source says, “Later on, the two made a sequel to the film in Bollywood — Singham Returns – which was an original script and had nothing to do with Suriya’s Singam II. While S3 is being remade in Hindi, there’s buzz that Ajay and Rohit will reunite for the third film in the Singham franchise. So, the remake of S3 will have to find a new title.”
