Basking in the success of the comedy film ‘Kalakalappu 2’, director Sundar C announced his ambitious project ‘Sangamithra’ last year. In fact, the team launched the first look posters at the prestigious
Cannes Film Festival
2017. However, there hasn’t been any concrete development since then. According to latest reports, it looks like Sundar C is likely to begin work on ‘Sangamithra’ sometime in August this year. However, we await an official confirmation regarding the same.
Starring
Jayam Ravi, Arya and Disha Patani in the lead, ‘Sangamithra’ is tipped to be a period flick, which will be made on a lavish budget. The film was initially launched with
Shruti Haasan in the lead. The actress, however, backed out due to date issues. Disha Patani later replaced Shruti Haasan to play the titular role.
‘Sangamithra’ will be bankrolled by the prestigious Sri Thenandal Films and is said to be made in two parts. The film will reportedly revolve around its female lead and date backs to 8th century AD.
Academy Award
winner AR Rahman and the National Award-winning production designer Sabu Cyril are already on board for the magnum opus.
