Sundar C's 'Sangamithra' to revive: Vishal to replace Jayam Ravi

Right after delivering Vijay's blockbuster film 'Mersal', the makers of the action drama announced a mega-budget historical film titled 'Sangamithra' in 2018. Sundar C was announced to direct the film, while Jayam Ravi, Arya, and Shruti Haasan were announced to play the main roles, but the film didn't proceed after the initial launch. Now, the latest report from an online portal suggests that Sundar C's 'Sangamithra' is to revive, while Vishal will be replacing Jayam Ravi. The makers of 'Sangamithra' have never dropped their plans of making the historical film and they have been figuring out the right time and stars to take off the budget. The makers have decided to revive the project soon and it is reportedly estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 450 crores. But the film will be co-produced by another leading production in Kollywood.

Vishal will be replacing Jayam Ravi as the latter has recently played the main role in another historical drama 'Ponniyin Selvan', which is directed by Mani Ratnam. Jayam Ravi also has the film's sequel lined up to release on April 28 this year, so he has reportedly decided to skip the historical drama 'Sangamithra'.

Vishal, who will be equal in height and fitness to Jayam Ravi, is reported to be called in as his replacement, and the official cast and crew will be announced soon at the right time. Shruti Haasan is also expected to be replaced, and we have to wait to see the changes that makers have to surprise us.
