, a spinoff of his successful 2013 film

Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara

, which starred Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. The film will be produced by

Ishari Ganesh

, with whose production house the star has reportedly entered into a three-film deal.

The project was officially announced on the sidelines of the Indian Premier League on the popular TV channel Stars Sports Tamil.

and Gokul were guests on a show, where they shared details about the project and their tryst with cricket.

With CSK's tagline being 'Whistle podu' and STR has fans whistling for the actor in theatres, Aadhavan, who is one of the show's hosts, asked the star about the cricketer for whom he has whistled and STR replied, "Definitely Dhoni. I don't actually follow cricket players that much. The only one I do follow is Dhoni."

When asked what punch dialogue he would suggest for Dhoni, the star came up with the punch line that Suriya utters in the

STR was also asked how he has managed to reinvent himself and has now come out as STR 2.0. The actor explained, "Today, there is so much discouragement everywhere, be it on social media or elsewhere.
