South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce guarantees a safe release for the Telugu version of 'Varisu'

'Varisu' featuring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles is announced for a grand theatrical release for Pongal 2023. The film will be released simultaneously with a dubbed Telugu version titled 'Vaarasudu'. 'Varisu' Telugu version earlier faced a problem as the Telugu Film Producer's council issued a notice a few days ago to theatre owners to not give preference for the dubbed films during festival occasions and asked them to allocate more screens for Telugu films. This stirred up controversy since Vijay's 'Varisu' is going to be the next big dubbed release in Telugu markets and his films receive great openings as well in Telugu states.

Several Tamil filmmakers raised their voices against the notice issued by Telugu Producers Council, while a few refused to release Telugu films in Tamil Nadu if 'Varisu' was rejected to be screened in Telugu states. South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, which unites the four South Indian industries Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, has reportedly promised the Tamil Film Producer's Council that 'Varisu' Telugu version 'Vaarasudu' will have a smooth release in Telugu states and the film will be allocated a deserving number of screens.

Chiranjeevi's 'Waltair Veerayya' and Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Veera Simha Reddy' are the two major Telugu releases that are slated to release for Pongal aka Sankranti 2023. Meanwhile, Ajith's 'Thunivu' will also be clashing with 'Varisu' at the box office, and it's going to be one of the biggest box office battles for Vijay.
