Sony acquires Mariyaan music rights

Sony Music has acquired the music rights of Dhanush starrer Maryiaan, directed by Bharat Bala. The teasers of Mariyaan, featuring Dhanush and Parvathi Menon in the lead roles, has already created a lot of buzz in the industry. AR Rahman is composing music and background score for Mariyaan.
'We are privileged to join hands with the Mariyaan team and are delighted to launch AR Rahman���s musical work.The film today is much talked about and we are confident the music will play a pivotal role n the film,' Ashok Parwani, head-south, Sony Music Entertainment.
The film revolves around the story of human survival, partially adapted from a real-life crisis event of Indian migrants made hostages in Sudan. The film has already garnered curiosity as it is based on the real life incident of a site worker who escapes from treacherous conditions to find freedom.
The film is produced by Venu Ravichandran under his Aascar Films banner. While the songs are likely to be released in April, the team is planning for a May release for the film.
