Sivaranjaniyum Innum Sila Pengallum (Sivaranjani and Two Other Women) has won the Best Film Award at the 28th Fukuoka International Film Festival, in Japan. Director Vasanth S Sai was present in Japan to receive this prestigious award from Hariki Yasuhiro, festival director, and Kubota Isao, chairman of the film festival committee.
Upon receiving this award, director Vasanth was extremely grateful and touched at the appreciation that Japanese audiences have shown the film.
He said, "I am very humbled and happy that the film has won the Best Film Award at Fukuoka International Film Festival. I thank the festival team and I'd like to place on record my writers - the heroes - the late Ashokamitran, the late Aadhavan and the living legend Jeya Mohan. They are the backbone of this film and I would like to thank them in a big way at this happy time."
The film starring
Parvathy Thiruvothu, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, and Kaleseewari Srinivasan had its Japanese Premiere at the festival on September 15, where it was received with great applause, as the only Indian feature film chosen in the showcase! The film has two more screenings at the festival on September 18 and 19.
