Sivakarthikeyan's 'Amaran' faces controversy, theatres across Tamil Nadu to be protected by police

Sivakarthikeyan's 'Amaran' was released on October 31 for the occasion of Diwali, and the film based on the life story of the late Major Mukund Varadharajan is doing well in cinemas. But a week after the film's release, 'Amaran' faces controversy. According to News18, reports indicate that in response to objections regarding alleged defamatory remarks about Muslims in the film 'Amaran', police protection has been ordered for all theaters screening the movie across Tamil Nadu. This precautionary measure by the police aims to prevent potential issues arising from the film’s release and to maintain peace and order during its screening.

Meanwhile, a few Muslim associations have stood against Sivakarthikeyan's 'Amaran' for defamatory remarks about their religion in the film. The association demanded a ban to screen 'Amaran' in theatres and they have been involved in a protest in front of the film's production house office in Teynampet, Chennai. According to A.K. Kareem, State secretary, SDPI, says 'Amaran' is thrusting anti-minority sentiments among the people and was made to sow hatred against Muslims.

Sivakarthikeyan played the role of the late Major Mukund Varadharajan to bring the late Indian soldier alive through his big screen performance. Earlier, a Hindu community stood against the film and director Rajkumar Periyasamy as they overshadowed Mukund Varadharajan's community in the film. But Rajkumar Periyasamy gave a fitting reply to the questions as Mukund Varadharajan's family desired the late Indian soldier to be addressed only as Tamizhan and Indian, and they didn't wish their community to be highlighted in the film.
