Sivakarthikeyan is enjoying the success of his recent film 'Amaran', and the actor was seen attending the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where he opened up about facing tough times as a teenager who "almost fell into" depression after his father passed away.
Sivakarthikeyan's father, who was a jail superintendent, died in the line of duty in the early 2000s when the actor was just 17 years old.
According to News18, Sivakarthikeyan recounted the incident during the event, sharing that after his father’s death, he nearly succumbed to depression. “But work saved me. The applause and cheers from my audience became my therapy,” the actor stated. He further added that cinema has been his passion since the beginning and that he always aspired to entertain people.

While talking about how he pursued a career in acting, the 'Ayalaan' actor admitted that his journey began in college while studying engineering. His friends encouraged him to take the stage and perform to entertain the audience, which marked his first step toward acting.
Rajkumar Periasamy’s 'Amaran', backed by Kamal Haasan, has crossed approximately Rs 300 crore at the box office. The movie also stars Sai Pallavi in a key role and revolves around the life of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan and his wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese.
'Amaran' is an adaptation of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book series 'India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes'. Major Mukund was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. The film was released in theaters on October 31.
