It was on November 14, 2001 that the romance drama Paarthale Paravasam hit screens, for
Deepavali, and today marks the 20th anniversary of the film. The film was special for quite a few reasons. For one, it was legendary director
K Balachander's 100th directorial. And it marked the first time that Madhavan and
Simran — the two hottest young stars at that time (and still!) — came together on screen.
The film also had Raghava Lawrence (taking up his major role after his supporting turn in Parthen Rasithen) and
Sneha as second leads. Ulaganayagan
Kamal Haasan appeared in a cameo for his guru in this film.
With the two stars reuniting now for Rocketry, which marks the directorial debut of Maddy, Simran fondly recalled their journey together with a nostalgic post that won over fans. "From #PaarthaleParavasam to #Rocketry..we have come a long way..haven't we @ActorMadhavan?" she asked her co-star.
To this, Madhavan replied, "👍👍👍❤️❤️🙏🙏What a blessed journey."
In Paarthale Paravasam, the two stars played a divorced couple who come together again to find a match for each other. The plot was all about how they eventually discover the love that they share for one another during the course of this search.

While the film, which released along with 10 other films, including Aalavandhan, Nandha, Shahjahan and Kasi, received mixed reviews at the time of its release, the songs — composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman — are still remembered by fans. The Isaipuyal, who had reunited with KB for the second time after their first collaboration — the terrific Duet — showcased his amazing range with a quirky album that is considered by his fans as among his most underrated works.
