A car collided with an elderly man, who was trying to cross the road on Elango Street, Teynampet.
The elderly man was critically injured and was rushed to the Royapettah Government Hospital for treatment. An elderly man, who was receiving intensive care in the hospital for a week, passed away yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Munusamy aged 70, of Dr. Thomas Road, Thyagaraja Nagar. A police investigation was conducted into the car that collided with the elderly man, and it was found that the car belonged to the well-known film actor Silambarasan. But Silambarasan was not in the car on the day of the incident, and the car was driven by driver Selvam. Silambarasan's father Rajender was reportedly traveling with his family when the accident happened. Police officials have now arrested Selvam, and a case has been registered against him.
