Siddharth summoned by police over controversial Saina Nehwal tweet

Actor Siddharth, had been facing a severe backlash after his tweet criticizing Saina Nehwal a few weeks ago. While the actor has been said to have made a ‘subtle’ usage of sexual innuendo in his tweet to the country's badminton champion, he has now been summoned by police over controversial tweet.
A couple of weeks ago, Siddharth had issued an apology for his ‘rude joke’ against badminton player Saina Nehwal, but not before a couple of complaints had been registered against him.Now, the Chennai police have summoned the actor to get his statement.
"Actor Siddharth has been summoned (over his controversial tweet on badminton player Saina Nehwal). We've actually received 2 complaints; other one is on defamation in a legal frame, not a criminal case. We only need his statement," said Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal.
Earlier in his apology, he had also explained his that his "word play" had "none of the malicious intent" that was attributed to it.
