Shraddha Srinath's post-apocalyptic thriller Kaliyugam goes on floors

We had told you in November 2020 that Shraddha Srinath will be playing the lead in a female-centric thriller titled

Kaliyugam

. The film, which will be directed by debutant

Pramodh Sundar

, who has done a few short films and has worked in an ad agency, has now gone on floors today, in Chennai.

Talking about the film, Pramodh Sundar says, "The film is a

psychological thriller

set in a

post-apocalyptic

world in

2050

. Shraddha will be seen in an intense look and at many stages in the film, her character will be facing a situation where she has to choose between what is morally right and what is necessary for survival. That is all I can reveal right now." He adds, "I was very sure no one other than Shraddha would be able pull off this role. She was kicked about it when she heard the script."

, a former assistant of ace cinematographer

, is handling the cinematography of this film while Sakthi Venkat Raj will be the art director. The team has put up a unique set for the film in Guindy, Chennai, that depicts a futuristic world. "However, this world will be totally relatable. All I can say is that this film will not be a sci-fi movie, like how most movies set in the future are," says Pramodh.

A key supporting role will be played an artiste, who the team is planning to keep as a surprise for now. "We are also holding back from revealing the music director of this film as we don't want to spoil the surprise for audiences," adds the director.

While the puja of the film happened today, the first schedule of the shoot will kickstart from tomorrow.
