Shankar on a comeback trail

The hero who set hearts aflutter in the 80s makes a comeback with prominent roles in upcoming releases including Casanova and Father���s Day
Shankar Panikkar is on a comeback trial. We last saw him in Rosshan Andrrews��� 2009 release Ividam Swargamanu. And now, the actor is all set to break free from his hiatus through yet another film of Rosshan, which has been in the news for some time now ��� Casanova.The romantic action thriller to be released this December has Shankar playing Ajoy, a close friend of Mohanlal, who plays the title role.
Besides, there is Kalavoor Ravikumar���s Father���s Day and Salt ���n Pepper fame Ashiq Abu���s next, Idukki Gold. Says Shankar, ���I play the CEO of a television channel in Casanova. It has been great teaming up with Lal and Rosshan Andrrews again after Ividam Swargamanu.��� Over the years, each time Shankar joined hands with Lal has resulted in hit films. The release of Casanova was stalled many a time but Shankar expects it to be a runaway hit. The shooting of Idukki Gold is scheduled to start in January 2012. Shankar throws some light on the curious title. ���The film is about the ganja business that is doing the rounds in Idukki.���
Meanwhile, Shankar is also gearing up for his third directorial after Virus and Keralotsavam 2009. ���Yes, plans are afoot to direct another film. I���ll be able to give you a clear picture soon,��� he assures.
