Director Shankar was forced to meet angered press persons and apologise for the unruly behaviour of a crew member belonging to the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer 2.0, who roughed up two photojournalists.

The team was shooting for the film in Triplicane on Wednesday and a key intersection in the locality was blocked to facilitate shoot for the big-budget film. “When we asked if it was proper to inconvenience public by blocking roads especially during (morning) peak hour, two crew members used foul language against us and we were beaten up,”

, photographer working for an English daily said.

He said Barath, who is working for a Tamil daily, was badly beaten up. He alleged that permission given for film shoot during a given time duration was manipulated by the crew members to suit their convenience.

The journalists lodged a joint complaint and sought appropriate action from the police.
Following this, efforts were made by the film’s team to end the row. Director Shankar met press persons in the afternnon to apologise to them. He claimed that the incident had happened without his knowledge, and also promised that he would ensure such events did not happen in the future.

The complaint was withdrawn after the filmmaker tendered his apology.
