Acclaimed director Seenu Ramasamy's 'Kanne Kalaimane', a rural drama starring Udhayanidhi and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead has been officially selected for Cannes World Film Festival in France.
The film revolves around the relationship between a husband and a wife, and has man-woman relationship as its central conflict. The protagonist is a farmer, so the film also touches upon the issues of farmers. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score lends some emotional heft to the film.
Veteran actress Vadivukkarasi is seen playing important roles of Udhayanidhi's mother in the film, which also stars Vasundhara Kashyap, Poo Ram, Ambani Shankar, Saravana Sakthi and Theepetti Ganesan in supporting roles. The film is a unique romantic drama by National Award-winning director Seenu Ramasamy.
The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14-25, 2024.
Interestingly, Kanne Kalaimane has earlier been selected for various other international films festivals as well including New York Movie Awards, Sweden Film Fesdtival, Paradise Film Destival, Cuckoo International Film Awards, Five Continents International Film Festival. Recently, the film also won three awards at the Indo-French International Film Festival.
