Actor
Suriya has once again made headlines after he lashed out the controversial
NEET exam. The actor had penned a note against the exam and urged people to come together. "The news of three students committing suicide on the same day over NEET fears has shaken my conscience. There's nothing more shameful than offering words of comfort instead of best wishes to students who are sitting for an exam. That students have to write
exams
and prove their worth in a life-threatening situation like the corona pandemic pains me.
Manu needhi' exams like NEET don't just take away the chances of our students but also their lives. For parents who lose their kids to an unjust exam system, it becomes a lifetime punishment. From now on, parents and teachers should be aware of this education system that doesn't have any interest in the well-being of students."
Now, members from the film fraternity like
Seenu Ramasamy and
CS Amudhan
have come out in support of the actor.
CS Amudhan wrote on his social media handle, "What Suriya is doing deserves a lot of praise. He is punching up & doing that with a lot to lose. That’s the kind of courage that’s almost non-existent nowadays. May your tribe increase!"
Seenu Ramasamy said," When standard of education and opportunities to learn are not equal to all, question papers turn questions themselves. The history of education will not forget Suriya."
Shanthnu too tweeted in support of Suriya. "So much respect Suriya na."
Gaurav Narayanan wrote, "#IStandWithSurya when the Majority of students study 12th in a state board syllabus why r u asking the students to write exams based on CBSE syllabus. Will the government order all the schools to teach CBSE syllabus? If that’s not possible then how come this? @Suriya_offl."
Veteran actor -director Manobala and actress Chandini Tamilarasan too extended their support to Suriya
In the meantime, fans of the actor have been trending the hashtag #TNStandwithSuriya.
