Director Sarkunam is on a high. The reason Vaagai Sooda Vaa, his follow-up to last years superhit Kalavani, which released last week, has been garnering all round critical praise much like his debut effort.Im extremely happy not only because I have lived up to the expectations generated by Kalavani, but also because my film has been getting a positive response from the audiences as well, especially on single screens, says the director.
Its a double dhamaka of sorts for him, as the director got married last month.
Vaagai Sooda Vaa stars Vimal and newcomer Iniya in the lead roles and is a period film set in the late 60s about how an ambitious young man transform a little hamlet in Tamil Nadu. The film also has actor-director K Bhagyaraj and Ponnvannan in crucial roles. The films music, by debutant composer M Ghibran has also come in for appreciation in the industry.
Quiz Sarkunam if he has started thinking about his next film and he surprisingly replies in the negative. I have been focussing on this film and its reception that I have not really thought about my next project, replies the unassuming director.
