Sarath Kumar and
Suhasini Mani Ratnam will come together for a social drama, which will be directed by
Thirumalai Baluchamy
. The former editor-turned-director says that the film will delve into water crises.
He says, “The film is set in an arid place, where people battle water shortage. I come from Ramanathapuram and I’ve faced such difficulties. We’ve faced so many issues that even
Kollywood
hasn’t shown yet. So, I am including those things that people haven’t seen before. While Sarath Kumar sir plays the lead role as someone who returns to his hometown from a foreign country, Suhasini ma’am plays his wife.”
On casting them, Thirumalai says, “When I wrote the script, I felt only Sarath sir and Suhasini ma’am could pull off these roles. Both of them have travelled across Tamil Nadu and have wide knowledge about various cultures, too. Their roles are challenging as well.”
Nandhaa of Thorati fame, newbie Ashwathi, Singam Puli, and Ganja Karuppu will be seen in important roles. “The film will shuttle between the 90s and current timeline. We will begin the shoot in the first week of October, in Ramanathapuram,” says Thirumalai.
