The director says, “I didn’t want to do an adult movie after Irandam Kuththu, so I did Poikkal Kuthirai with Prabhu Deva. It got some critical acclaim, but revenue-wise, the movie didn’t do well. So, I just wanted to make a pure youthful entertainment with this film. In this film, I’m not relying on glamour or double-meaning jokes. I wanted to have five peculiar characters in this movie that’s about five guys; I didn’t want a hero or a heroine.” Talking about this film, he says, “In every friends gang, there will be a variety of characters. Out of those varieties, I’ve picked five types that will be entertaining for the audience.”

The director says that the story has a message, which he has tried to deliver in a very comical way. “Today’s generation, especially the 20-25-year-olds, is into alcohol, smoking, drugs, and relationships. By comically portraying their lack of awareness about the consequences of these habits, the story underscores the unpredictable trajectory that life can take when one fails to realise the how their actions can backfire,” he states.
