Santhanam to make his comeback as a comedian with back-to-back films

After a hiatus from comedy roles following his transition to leading hero roles, Santhanam is reportedly set to make a return to his comedic roots. Rising to fame through the hit show Lollu Sabha, Santhanam became a household name with his impeccable timing and hilarious performances, dominating Tamil cinema as a top comedian. Eventually, he shifted his focus entirely to hero roles, stepping away from his well-loved comedy parts.

While his films as a hero also featured comedic elements, they failed to achieve consistent success, particularly after the pandemic. Following a string of disappointments, many speculated that his career had lost its momentum. However, Santhanam made a strong comeback with the film 'DD Returns', which became a hit. Its sequel, titled 'DD Next Level' is currently in production and is slated for release in May. The first look of 'DD Next Level' was unveiled by the makers recently, and it promised a hilarious entertainer.

Despite his ventures as a hero, fans greatly missed Santhanam’s comedic brilliance, as evidenced by his recent performance in 'Madha Gaja Raja', which left audiences in splits. Fans have since urged him to return to full-fledged comedy roles. Listening to their pleas, Santhanam has reportedly agreed to take on three new films as a comedian, as per Asia Net. One of these projects will see him team up with actor Ravi Mohan, while the other two will feature him alongside Arya and Vishal. This decision has thrilled fans, as Santhanam seems poised to reclaim the space he left in Tamil cinema, potentially boosting his market and career to new heights.
