“The entire film happens during two months — December and January — amidst Christmas and New Year revelry. So, a church forms the major backdrop. As per the script, we need it to be a really old church. After scouting for one and not finding any, we realised that it would be better if we erected a set of the church. Our producer Esakki Durai also agreed to this. Since the church has to be situated in a hill station, art director John Britto has taken references for its architecture from the actual designs of British and Indian architects of that time,” informs the debutant director.

Since the film is a musical, the director says the music director

Nivas Prasanna

had gone to the US recently to do some research work for it. “The music has to be a mix of western classical and folk, and Nivas felt that it would be better if we recorded the music in the US, so he went there for a few days to do the background work,” he says. Vijay Sethupathi will have a radically new look in this film. “His character is more like that of a tramp, and he will have the look of a freaky musician,” reveals the director.
