, and the actor’s family organised a remembrance and tribute function at the Music Academy on November 19, which, incidentally, also marked the legend’s 11th death anniversary.

personalities like actors Sivakumar, Sachu, Vennira Aadai Nirmala, Anand Babu, Rajesh and Mohan Raman, Dr Kamala Selvaraj and politician Pon Radhakrishnan were also present at this do, which also saw the presence of a large number of Ayyappa devotees as Nambiar, who was a staunch devotee of the God, is considered a Guru Swamy.

The function began with the singing of Ayyappan songs by Veeramani Raju and his troupe. A short film on the life of Nambiar, conceptualised by Nambiar’s grandson, Siddharth, was also screened.

Speaking post that, Ilaiyaraaja recalled his trip to Sabarimala along with Nambiar in 1980, and praised his devout nature. “Even though he played villains in films, he was a great man in life,” the maestro said.
