Actor and producer
Ravi Mohan has explained the legal issue surrounding his new film, ‘Bro Code.’ He alleged that the problem began after a liquor company asked him to feature its brand in the film, but he refused. Directed by ‘Dikkilona’ director
Karthik Yogi, the film stars SJ Suryah, Arjun Ashokan, Shraddha Srinath, and others in important roles. The film is being produced by Ravi Mohan himself on his debut production venture.
Ravi Mohan refused alcohol promotion in the film
A statement released by his team said that the liquor company asked to advertise their 'Bro Code' brand in the film, which Ravi Mohan rejected. “Promoting alcohol in the film is unacceptable, as it would set a wrong example,” the statement said. It has also been clarified that the title ‘Bro Code’ and its artwork have already been registered by their company in the entertainment category.
Madras High Court continues to uphold his rights
Ravi Mohan has alleged that the liquor company filed a case in the Delhi High Court in retaliation for his refusal. “They have not yet challenged the Madras High Court’s verdict. So that court recognizes our right to title," he said. He also said that the interim injunction has been extended until November 21, 2025. He also said that the liquor company is using this as a promotional tactic to introduce their brand in Tamil Nadu.
Delhi High Court issues interim ban
The Delhi High Court has banned Ravi Mohan Studios from using the title 'Bro Code' for promotions. In a trademark infringement case filed by a company called IndoBevs, the court noted that the similarity between the image and the name of the alcoholic beverage could mislead people. The film, which is set to hit the theaters next year, also stars Sri Gouri Priya, Malavika Manoj, Upendra Limaye, and Aishwarya Raj. The recently released promo of 'Bro Code' has been well-received by the audience.
