Rashmika Mandanna, the winner of Times Fresh Face 2014, will be making her debut in Tamil soon. The actress has been roped in to play the female lead role in a new film starring
Karthi, which will be directed by
Bakkiyaraj Kannan of Remo fame.
Confirming the news, the director says, “Yes, Rashmika will play the heroine in my film. I was looking for someone with homely looks for this character, and she fits the bill perfectly.” Rashmika, who started her film career in 2016 with Kirik Party in Kannada, became a sought-after name in Tollywood as well following the hit Geetha Govindam last year. The director, however, is cagey about revealing other details related to the film.
“This will be an action-cum-family drama with a dose of romance. We will start shooting from mid-March.” Yogi Babu and Mansoor Ali Khan will be seen in supporting roles in this film, which will be set in Chennai.
