Twenty-two years after its release,
Rajinikanth’s Baashha is now going to be screened at the Fantastic Fest in the US. Directed by
Suresh Krissna, the film was digitally remastered and released earlier this year in March, and will be screened at the fest, which celebrates genre films, on September 24 and 26.
Says its producer Thangaraj Veerappan, who oversaw the digitalisation, “We had held a charity show of the restored version in the UK in the beginning of the year, and a consultant for the fest had seen it there and approached us.
They wanted to highlight the remastering and give film buffs in the US a taste of our mainstream films.” Interestingly,
Kamal Haasan’s Aalavandhan (also directed by Suresh Krissna) was screened at the fest last year.
