Shankar's 'Endhiran'. When the team began shooting for the film, the makers had released a poster of the film announcing the same, in which Rajinikanth was seen like silver robot holding a rose in his hand right in front of his lips. While it had been thought it was computer generated image of the superstar, it has now been revealed that Rajinikanth was painted for the photoshoot.
Cinematographer Richard M Nathan, who had done the photoshoot for the film in 2008 has now revealed this interesting bit of trivia along with the raw photo of superstar Rajinikanth himself painted in silver paint and wearing a silver helmet and a silver colored sunglasses.
Sharing both the original and the computer enhanced photos, Richard posted, "This was a photoshoot I did for #enthiran in 2008. Ppl thot it was CGI, it's not. Thalaivar was pained for the shoot. Check the unreleased second photo." (sic)
Enthiran was the all-time biggest earner for any Indian film then and it had grossed over Rs 100 crores in Tamil Nadu, when it released in 2008. The film directed by Shankar had Rajinikantha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead with Danny Denzongpa playing the antagonist and AR Rahman composing the music for the film. It is to be noted that Enthiran won for Best Special Effects and Best Production Design at the 58th National Film Awards.
