Rajinikanth's 'Mullum Malarum' producer Natarajan passes away at 70

Veteran producer Natarajan, widely known for his significant contributions to Tamil cinema, passed away today (Feb 1), leaving the film fraternity and fans in deep sorrow. He was the mastermind behind several iconic films, including Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Mullum Malarum', which remains one of the actor's most celebrated performances. Tributes from prominent personalities in the film industry have been pouring in to honor his memory.

Natarajan's illustrious career in the Tamil film industry began with the production of 'Mullum Malarum' in 1978, directed by the legendary Mahendran and featuring a memorable soundtrack by Ilaiyaraaja. The film, starring Rajinikanth, Shobha, Jayalakshmi, and Sarath Babu, became a milestone in Tamil cinema, solidifying Rajinikanth's status as a versatile actor. Beyond this iconic film, Natarajan produced several other successful ventures such as 'Sirai', 'Kaliyugam', 'Uthama Purushan', 'Dharmaseelan', 'Raja Kaiya Vacha', 'Pangaali', 'Chinna Gounder', and 'Nadhiye Thedi Vandha Kadal'.

At the age of 70, Natarajan had been receiving treatment for health-related issues in recent weeks. Unfortunately, he suffered a sudden heart attack, as confirmed by his family. He is survived by his wife Jyothi and two sons, Senthil and Vicky. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Tamil cinema production. His mortal remains have been placed at his residence for industry colleagues, friends, and admirers to pay their last respects. Many prominent figures from the film industry have already visited his residence to offer their condolences and bid him a final farewell. The final rites are scheduled to take place this evening. The film community and his admirers remember Natarajan for his invaluable contributions and dedication to Tamil cinema.
