Rajinikanth to Dhanush: Tamil stars who bagged awards at the 67th National Film Awards

The 67th National Film Awards was presented today by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in an event held in Delhi, and stars from several industries participated at the event to receive their awards. Kollywood dominated the 67th National Film Awards as seven of its stars have been announced National Award under several categories. From Rajinikanth to Dhanush, here is a look at Kollywood stars who bagged awards at the 67th National Film Awards.

Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the noble award for successors in the cinema industry. Rajinikanth has been awarded the prestigious award for his contribution and he dedicated the award to his mentor director K Balachander who introduced him to the cinema. Rajinikanth also thanked his old friend Raj Bagadhur and the Tamil cinema audience for encouraging him.

Dhanush

Dhanush shared the National Award for Best Actor with Manoj Bajpayee. The Tamil star bagged the award for his brilliant performance in 'Asuran'. It's Dhanush's second National Award as an actor, and fourth in total while he received the other two as a producer. Dhanush appeared in a traditional white shirt and dhoti to receive the award.

Vijay Sethupathi

Vijay Sethupathi, who surprised everyone with his transgender character in the film 'Super Deluxe', was conferred the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in the film. The seasoned actor appeared in a traditional look for the grand ceremony.

Vetri Maaran's directorial 'Asuran' won the National Award for Best Tamil Film, and this also marks his third National Award as a director. Vetri Maaran appeared in a stylish blue shirt and jeans to collect his third. 'Asuran' featured Dhanush and Manju Warrier in lead roles with Ken Karunas, Deejay, and Narain, in supporting roles.
