Rajinikanth to be honoured at IFFI 2025, 'Amaran' nominated for the Golden Peacock Award

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will honour superstar Rajinikanth for completing 50 glorious years in cinema.


The veteran actor will be felicitated at the closing ceremony of the prestigious event, which will take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025.




Rajinikanth’s tribute is expected to be one of the most anticipated highlights of this year’s festival. The Tamil superstar will be next seen in the most awaited Nelson Dilipkumar's actioner 'Jailer 2'.

Kamal Haasan praises 'Amaran’s global recognition at the festival

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan took to social media to congratulate the team of Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi for their film Amaran, which has been selected as the opening feature film in the Indian Panorama section and nominated for the Golden Peacock Award.


Sharing a poster of the film, Kamal wrote, “Proud to share the immortal Major Mukund Varadarajan’s story that stirred India’s soul will now echo across the world.”


He added, “Extremely delighted to share that #Amaran has been nominated for the Golden Peacock Award under the International Competition and will be the opening feature film in the Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India, Goa. Grateful to the jury and congratulations to all fellow nominees.”

IFFI 2025 embraces diversity and digital storytelling

IFFI 2025 will showcase over 240 films from 81 countries. This includes 13 world premieres, 4 international premieres, and 46 Asian premieres.


As reported by India Today, speaking about this year’s edition, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, said, “IFFI 2025 marks a significant chapter as it embraces inclusivity and diversity, showcasing voices from all corners of the world while spotlighting Indian regional cinema’s rich tapestry.”


The event will also celebrate the centenaries of legendary artists like Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, P. Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika, and Salil Chowdhury through screenings of their iconic works.
