Rahman plays a cop, again
Actor Rahman, who had essayed cop roles in different languages, will be seen playing a police again, in debutant Subburaj’s movie. The actor avers that he had decided not to take up cop roles for a while.
He says, “I was offered this role when I was fed up of playing police on screen. In fact, I was initially hesitant when I was approached for Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (D16), too, a few years ago because of the same reason.

I sometimes get irritated with the kind of offers which come to me, thanks to some of the directors’ obsession with the template elements which worked in successful films. Many directors underestimate the audience and take them for granted. But like D16, I was impressed with the narration this time, too.”
According to him, the yet-to-be-titled movie, which is based on a true story, has an intriguing screenplay. Set against the backdrop of Madurai and Dindigul, the story is about a fight against the system which involves the bureaucrats and elected representatives. Rahman adds, “The misuse of power is the central theme of the film, and how a sincere police officer takes up the case of a victim has been handled interestingly by the director. The troubles in our education system have also been discussed in this movie. The film also has enough stuff to create awareness without being preachy.”
Badminton player Varsha Belawadi will be seen as Rahman’s pair in the film.
