Radhika Prasidhha, who acted in Kuttram Kadithal and Kadugu, has now released her short film,

I Exist

, which she has written and co-directed. The short, which talks about sexuality and harassment in a novel manner, has won the Best

Short Film

award at festivals like the Woodpecker International Film Festival, New Delhi and the All lights India International Film Festival, Cochin.

“I had written this script as a play for a theatre event, but as per the rules of the festival, I couldn’t act in it. Later, I decided to make it into a short film along with Vivek Raju, intending it as an acting exercise. At the festivals where we screened the film, people were receptive towards its theme,” says the actress. The short features the actress in three roles — a kid who doesn’t realise she’s being molested, a young girl crushing on her co-worker and a married woman who has been raped. “It is the recent discussions on sexual harassment that gave me the strength to release the film online,” she adds.

While she is busy with a play, on the film front, Radhika says that she is waiting for the right roles. “My debut film, Kuttram Kadithal, had a powerful role for me, but since then, I’ve been getting that are on the same line. And I want to do a variety of roles because it is for this reason I became an actress,” she explains.
