It was the trailer launch of Nayanthara’s horror film
Kolaiyuthir Kaalam
alright. But, the event turned out to be a misogynist affair as
Radha Ravi, one of the chief guests invited for the launch, started slut shaming the film’s lead actress
Nayanthara.
At first, the senior actor was critical of the tag, ‘
Lady Superstar
’ for the actress and said that such tags were reserved only for people like Sivaji Ganesan and MGR. “Puratchi Thalaivar and Nadigar Thilagam are legends and are immortal. Nayanthara should not be compared with people like Rajinikanth and Sivaji Ganesan.”
Things took an uglier turn when he started attacking Nayan on her personal life. He said that despite all that was happening in her personal life, Nayan was a star because people of Tamil Nadu tend to forget things easily. He added that Nayan acted as ghost in Tamil and Seetha in Telugu. “In my time, actresses like
KR Vijaya
were offered role of Seetha. Today, anybody can play Seetha. You can cast a person, whom you respect or someone who sleeps around.”
The film is produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja and directed by Chakri Toleti. Others who attended the event included Karu Palaniappan and producer Suresh Kamatchi.
