Pradeep Ranganathan's ‘Dragon’ surpasses Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' to emerge as Tamil Cinema's top grosser of 2025

The Tamil film ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ initially led the 2025 box office charts with an impressive opening. Starring Ajith, the film witnessed strong collections in the first three days, especially in international markets like Singapore. However, despite the solid start, trade circles noted that the film's overall collection did not fully meet expectations when compared to its production cost. Now, ‘Dragon’ has overtaken ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ to claim the title of the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025, according to Hindu Tamil. This milestone has brought immense joy to the team, as the movie not only achieved massive box office numbers but also turned out to be a profitable venture for its production house. Made with a budget of Rs 37 crores, the film has exceeded expectations and proved to be a significant commercial success by grossing over Rs 130 crore, while the film clocked around Rs 82 crore from Tamil Nadu.

‘Dragon’ is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, known for his storytelling prowess. The film features Pradeep Ranganathan and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles, with Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon playing pivotal parts.
