'Petta': Five reasons to watch Rajinikanth's film

The much-awaited Rajinikanth's 'Petta' directed by Karthik Subbaraj is all set to hit screens this Thursday for the Pongal weekend. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film has Rajinikanth playing the lead and also boasts of a huge star cast. Before the movie review of 'Petta' is out, here is a look at five reasons for the audience to watch the film.



Vinatge RajinikanthEver since the first look poster, teaser and trailer have been released, the fans have been over the moon saying that the Rajinikanth of the 90s is back on screen after a long time. Even the makers have stressed that the fans would get to see the Superstar of yore in this movie. Thalaivar seems to be back in his stylish young looks with all the charisma he had in the 90s. Add to it the mass punch lines he utters in the trailer.

Huge star castThe film boasts of a huge star cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Bobby Simha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, J Mahendran, Megha Akash, Yogi Babu, Munishkanth, Sanath Reddy and others. Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as the prime antagonist in the film, while Simran seems to be paired opposite Rajinikanth. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also plays the role of a menacing villain in the film.



Simran and Trisha's first film with RajinikanthActress Simran, who ruled the K-town during the late 90s, gets to work with the superstar for the first time in her career. The pretty actress looksgorgeous in the trailer and is paired opposite Rajinikanth. Actress Trisha, who has completed a decade in the Tamil film industry, is also working with Rajinikanth for the first time. Both Simran and Trisha seem to be paired opposite Rajinikanth.

Anirudh's mass musicThe songs of Petta have turned out to be huge hits. Though Karthik Subbaraj's go-to musician has always been Santhosh Narayanan, Petta has music by the young sensation Anirudh and he seems to have delivered, with hit songs for the film. The album has become a chartbuster across the country. Anirudh has gone all out to make this Petta album both electrifying and marana mass.

Karthik Subbaraj, the new-age director'Petta' marks the first collaboration of Rajinikanth and Karthik Subbaraj. The 67-year-old star was all praise for Karthik and said he has directed him like a hardcore Rajinikanth fan. "Karthik has extracted from me the kind of work I used to perform three to four decades ago," said Rajinikanth during the audio launch. With hit films like Pizza, Jigarthanda and Iraivi, the fans are confident that the director would strike gold and give them a fun filled entertainer with 'Petta'.
