'Parasakthi': Release date, OTT buzz, plot - Everything to know about Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela starrer

'Parasakthi' is ready to grace theatres this week. Sivakarthikeyan plays the lead role in this film. Sudha Kongara is the director. Many people are talking about this movie because it is one of the big releases this year.




The film was first planned for January 14. Later, the team decided to bring it earlier to the big screens. Now the release date is January 10. The tension is high because Vijay’s last film 'Jana Nayagan' is also coming at the same time. Both films have strong fan support.

Simple story and time setting of 'Parasakthi'

'Parasakthi' is a period drama set in 1965. Sivakarthikeyan and Atharvaa play brothers in the film. While Atharvaa’s character questions the rule from the Centre, Sivakarthikeyan’s character works in the Railways and sees things in a different manner. This contrast between their characters looks interesting. If the narrative too supports this character definition, then 'Parasakthi' will be surely engaging.


The film talks about Hindi imposition and how Tamil Nadu reacted to it. It also shows how politics enters family life. Ravi Mohan plays a government officer in the film. The film seems to have all the elements one can expect from a Sudha movie.

Censor and OTT talk

The film has reportedly received a U/A certificate. But the censor process is not fully over yet. Because of this delay, theatres are still waiting. This has affected advance bookings. According to OTT Play reports, 'Parasakthi' will stream on ZEE5 after its theatrical run. But the makers have yet to issue an official statement.

Theatre owners are worried for THIS reason

Theatre owners are worried, not just because of the clash with 'Jana Nayagan', but because of money sharing issues. Tiruppur Subramaniam explained their concern in a recent interview with Puthiya Thalaimurai, "Jana Nayagan has a 60% audience and Parasakthi has a 40% audience. Jananayakan has a 75% audience and Parasakthi has a 80% audience. A ticket costs Rs.190 and tax is Rs.42. If they charge 75% of the remaining amount, we will get only Rs.37 for a ticket."


He asked openly, "Do we need to run a theatre? Can we pay salaries? Can we pay EB bills? What can we do?"


Subramaniam made it clear that theatre owners are ready to share profits. He said, "We haven't asked them to pay 40% or 30%. We are ready to pay up to 70%. But they are asking us to pay 75% or 80% in a place like Tirunelveli."


He also said, "What will we get in return? What is the use of paying that money?"

Talking about different places, he said Jana Nayagan has around 60% audience in Kerala and Palakkad, and about 75% in Coimbatore. He added, "In Tamil Nadu, the reason for the lack of money is because of this. 75% is abnormal terms."


Finally, he linked everything to bookings and said, "They are asking for 75% or even 80%. That's why the booking is very slow. There is no other reason."


With a great plot, a promising director and cast, 'Parasakthi' is touted to be a winner for Sivakarthikeyan who faced a huge blow after his most awaited 'Madharaasi' tanked at the box office.
