'Parasakthi’s creative director and actor
Dev Ramnath has openly called out a section of
Thalapathy Vijay’s fans. He accused them of spreading negativity and manipulating reviews to sabotage the film’s release.
Dev said this goes beyond normal competition and harms cinema itself. He posted on Twitter, "Just because we’re releasing alongside your film doesn’t give you the right to sabotage ours. We announced our release date first. Did we try to stop your film? Never."
Struggles before release
Dev also explained the challenges 'Parasakthi' faced before release. He said, "I was at the CBFC office every single day, in Chennai and Mumbai, to overcome hurdles. We were dealing with our censor issues just the way your team was. We got ours less than 18 hours before the release."
He talked about the negative actions taken by some fans, "Negative reviews, using old videos, influencing people, shouting political slogans in theatres, messing with BMS ratings. This isn’t competition. You did the same to a big film last year. Talking as a cinema lover, this isn't healthy for any of us." Dev ended by reminding people what the film is about, "#Parasakthi is about a student movement that we Tamil should pride about. We will fight this, just the way our students did."
Box office start
'Parasakthi' started its box office run in a decent way. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan and had good attention before release. On the first day, it collected Rs 12.5 crores India net. That was a good opening. On the second day, the collection came down a little to Rs 10.1 crores. Still, the weekend looked fine. After two days, the total collection reached Rs 22.60 crores.
Big drop on day 3
'Parasakthi' saw a big drop in collection on the third day. The film earned around Rs 2.75 crores India net as reported by the Sacnilk website. The total collection after three days is now Rs 25.35 crores. The fall from Sunday to Monday was expected because weekday shows usually bring fewer viewers. The film now needs good word of mouth to stay steady in the coming days.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
