One reason why filmmakers refrain from making childrenoriented film is because they believe directing kids to be a tougher task than directing adults. But director Pandiraj says that it is not so in his case. The acclaimed director made his debut with the children-centric Pasanga and is now busy editing Marina, which also has a bunch of kids in crucial roles.
In fact, for me, it is the opposite. I get what I want from the kids quite easily, he says.
He also reveals the tactics he follows when directing child artists. Children mirror your own moods. So, when Im shooting a serious scene, I behave strictly with them. For example, if I want them to cry, I go ahead and scold them, which automatically makes them sad. Similarly, when shooting lighter scenes, I behave as if Im one among them and this makes them feel relaxed while shooting, says Pandiraj.
Marina stars TV star Sivakarthikeyan and Oviya (of Kalavani fame) in lead roles and is about life on Chennais renowned beach.
