Veteran Tollywood actor and former MP Kaikala Satyanarayana, who has acted in a couple of Tamil films as well, passed away at his Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad. The veteran actor died at the age of 87 in the early hours of Friday. While he been a part of over 750 films, he is know to the Tamil audience for his role as Reddy in Kamal Haasan's 'Panchatanthiram'.
Kaikala is survived by his wife Nageswaramma, two sons and two daughters. He was reportedly suffering from age-related issues. The actor was also admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad a few weeks ago. After having been discharged, his health started deteriorating again, and he was in a critical condition.
Satyanarayana breathed his last in the early hours of Friday at his home in Film Nagar, in Hyderabad on December 23. His last rites will be performed tomorrow at Mahaprasthanam in Hyderabad.
He had also acted as Venkatappa Nayakar in the Tamil biographical film, 'Periyar', which has Sathyaraj playing the titular role. Apart from being an actor, Kaikala Satyanarayana was also involved in politics. He contested in the Lok Sabha Elections in 1996 and won from the Machilipatnam constituency.
