Veerappan is not a new name in India. Mostly known for his smuggling of Sandalwood, many films have been made about him. Now, the international OTT platform took to social media to announce that they are making a biographical drama, a true crime series called The Hunt for Veerappan'. Releasing a teaser, they announced that the documentary series, a true crime drama' will premiere on August 4.
Veerappan is famous for his bandits against the Indian government, especially in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and he often operated from the forest regions. The series is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, and it will be released in four parts: Tamil, English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam.
Sharing the teaser, the OTT platform's statement read, "Catch #TheHuntforVeerappan, which premieres August 4 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, only on Netflix."
The synopsis of the documentary series read, "A husband, father, leader, and wanted criminal. While the image of the man with a handlebar moustache and gaunt cheekbones is well known, there are many other aspects of Veerappan’s life that have remained hidden in the dark forests of South India. The docu-series unveils this saga with accounts from those closest to him."
