“No one better than Dhanush to play Abdul Kalam,” says Om Raut; shares his goal
Actor Dhanush would be the best choice to play the lead role in the biopic based on the life of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said the film's director Om Raut. The project was officially announced at the Cannes Film Festival last May. There is a lot of anticipation as Om Raut, who directed 'Adipurush,' is also directing the biopic of APJ Abdul Kalam.
Talking about the venture with Deccan Chronicle, Om Raut said, "Dhanush is a uniquely talented actor. There is no one more suitable than him to play Abdul Kalam in his biopic. I am very happy that he has agreed. The film will stand tall with his contribution," he said. Om Raut also said that he was eagerly waiting for Dhanush to act in the film.
Om Raut stressed that making a biopic is not an easy task. "You can't film the entire life of a personality. Which parts do we film, and what we leave out is what matters most. The strength of a biopic is in choosing the right moments to leave out certain things. In making those choices, the film should touch people emotionally," he explained.
Om Raut also mentioned that Abdul Kalam was a great inspiration to the youth through his writings and speeches. "Kalam's books had a great impact on my life during my youth. My goal is to bring that feeling to today's generation. This film, which is made for the youth, will be a guide for them. Kalam, like Lokmanya Tilak, believed in the potential of the youth. The film will express that hope," said Om Raut.
