Playback singer Nithya Mammen’s foray into independent music with Tamil song, Maranden Unnai, is a blending of a compelling narrative with ethereal music in her mellow voice, which seems to have connected with listeners, as it has received 1. 5 million views. The song is composed and written by DJ Agnivesh.
Collaborating with close friend Arun Sukumar, the Kerala State and JC Daniel-awarded singer, has formed NIMAA Creations, a platform born from their shared love for music and art, and the Tamil track is their inaugural project. Nithya underscores the significance of teamwork in creating music and her team, including director Sibin Raj, DOP Sangeeth Mathews and editor Rizaal, has been instrumental in the success of this song, she has said.
Nithya, whose musical journey started when she caught the eye of Kailas Menon’s mother during a stage show, has now even ventured into acting for this track, alongside the appearances of co-actors Sanju Sanichen, Arun and actress Divya Pillai in a special cameo. But it is more to convey the storyline, than something she wants to do long-term.
The production company aspires to explore various avenues, doing music videos, short films and offering support for fellow artistes. They are also considering the prospect of venturing into film production.
