Nayanthara's wedding documentary row: The makers agree on the violation of rights, eye compromise
The docudrama 'Beyond the Fairytale,' starring Nayanthara, has been in the news for the past few weeks. In the latest development, Nayanthara's wedding documentary ran into legal trouble with the production company of the 2005 super hit film 'Chandramukhi.' The reason was that the producers of the series were accused of using some scenes from the film 'Chandramukhi' without permission. A lawsuit was filed for this, seeking compensation of Rs 5 crore.
The case came up for hearing on September 10. It has been postponed again to October 6, while the producers of 'Beyond the Fairytale' are trying to resolve the issue by reaching an out-of-court settlement.
Rahul Dhawan, managing partner of Lex Chambers, told the Hindustan Times, “AP International believes that there has been a violation of rights on our part. But we will discuss this issue directly with them and reach a compromise," he said. He also noted, "This issue has not gone to court. The agreement will be finalized by the next date."
There is another case pending on behalf of Dhanush's Wunderbar production company against Nayanthara's wedding documentary. In November 2024, Dhanush filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, claiming that a three-second scene from the film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' was used in a Netflix documentary. The hearing in this case was scheduled for August 20, 2025, but was postponed due to a lack of time. The court said that the next date will be announced soon.
The ongoing legal issues have complicated the makers. However, they have decided that the best option is to reach an out-of-court settlement with the makers of 'Chandramukhi.' Now all eyes are on the next hearing date and whether the settlement will be finalized by then. Despite the controversy, Nayanthara's 'Beyond the Fairytale' is currently streaming on Netflix, and it gives insights into the actress' love and marriage life with Vignesh Shivan.
