It's been a while since we last saw Narain in M-town. But the wait ends on October 14 when he makes a comeback in and as 'Veeraputhran' in P T Kunju Muhammed's period film that has him playing freedom fighter Mohammed Abdul Rahman Sahib.
1x1 polls

"This is the first time that I'm playing a character who is etched in the annals of history," says an excited Narain, whose resemblance to the freedom fighter made him the first choice for the role. "There were no real life footages of Sahib and I familiarised myself with him through several reference points including books and interacting with people who lived in his time."
Breathing life into a historical character was challenging, Narain says. "Sahib's life was a tragedy. He is someone who could have been as famous as Gandhi but he never rose to that level. Although he was a roaring lion, at heart, he was a true romantic who unburdened his worries before his wife, Kunju Beevathu. Understanding Sahib was a challenge. The role took me on an emotional roller coaster ride."
Raima Sen plays his heroine. "Her eyes are her assets. Raima is a brilliant actress. One look at her repertoire of films will make you acknowledge the fact that she has consciously chosen to do only good films. And 'Veeraputhran' will surely add another feather in her cap."
Narain's next Tamil project is Mishkin's 'Mukhammoodi.' "This is my third film with Mishkin. I'll be doing a negative role in it." And Narain has his preparations in full swing to get into the shoes of his villain act. "I'm now busy learning kung fu for the film. I had gained about 10 kg for 'Veeraputhran' and now I'm trying hard to shed all that and more for 'Mukhammoodi.'' His last release in Kollywood was 'Thambi Kottai' in which he starred with Prabhu and Poonam Bajwa.
Will 'Veeraputhran' cement Narain's place among the young stars of the day? Wait 'n watch!
