After the super success of ‘96’, the film is all set to be remade in Telugu. The film, to be produced by Dil Raju, will reportedly star Samantha Akkineni and
Nani.
According to the reports, the Telugu producer had arranged a special screening of the film '96' for Nani and Samantha. This film is touted to be an intense romantic-drama as it tracks the protagonist's life from younger stages till the age of ninety-six.
Nani and Samantha will be teaming up for the third time in Tamil-Telugu remake of ‘96’ after
Gautham Menon's 'Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu' and Rajamouli’s Telugu dub of ‘Naan E’. Interestingly, Samantha played Trisha's role in 'Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu' which earned her stardom in Tollywood. The story of '96' is based between two high school lovers. One is a teacher and another is a wildlife photographer.

Prem Kumar has directed the movie while
Govind Menon
of 'Solo' fame has scored the music for the movie. The Tamil version is produced by Nandhagopal Madras Enterprises and N.Shanmugasundaram is doing the cinematography.
After many delays, the Tamil version of the film starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the lead is slated for release on October 4. However, the Telugu remake will go on floors from December this year after Samantha gives the nod for the project.
