Namitha to play a fiery journalist in a political film

Actress Namitha, who hasn’t been seen on screens for some time, is back! She will be playing the lead role in a new film, titled

, the film revolves around the battle between a fiery journalist and a dreadful politician.

“My character is that of a fiery, independent and strong-willed journalist. It is a female-centric film and there will be no glamour associated to my role,” says Namitha, who reveals that she has been working on her body language to play this character. Actor Varaaki will be seen playing the antagonist. Interestingly, he has written the story of the film as well. The shoot of the film kick-starts today in Chennai, and Namitha informs that she has been rehearsing her lines. “As in Chathrapathi, Sreemagesh is delivering a strong social message through this film. We are beginning shoot with the climax scene and it has some 30 pages of dialogues. I do not want the lines to lose their impact on screen, so I’m learning my lines by heart so that my performance is forceful when we shoot the scene,” she says, and adds despite the effort she is putting in, she might not be dubbing for herself.

The supporting cast of the film includes Appukutty, Manobala, Marimuthu and Nadodigal Gopal among others. Goli Soda and Chandiveeran fame SN Arunagiri is composing the music, while Jagadish V Viswam, who has shot some Malayalam films, is making his Tamil debut as the cinematographer.
