A couple of days ago,
Nakkhul had taken to his social media to announce that he was not only kickstarting the shoot of a new film, but has also signed yet another one on the same day. Well, we’ve learnt that the film which the actor signed is a comedy thriller, helmed by debutant
RG Krishnan.
The filmmaker says, “I’ve directed an OTT project before, for which SP Balasubrahmanyam sir had sung a track, Ennoda Baasha; it was his last song.
I then got busy with writing a feature script. I had narrated the storyline to Nakkhul just a couple of days ago and he really liked it. He immediately told me that he’d do the film and we even formalised our association.”
The film has been titled Vasco Da Gama. Ask Krishnan if the film has something to do with travel and he says. “There are two reasons why I titled the film Vasco Da Gama — one is because the title corresponds to the names of the main characters in the film. Another reason is, like the great explorer, the characters are also out to ‘find’ something.”
And, what’s Nakkhul’s character like? “He is a very, very good boy in the film; someone who can do no wrong. In fact, I was toying with the idea of calling the film Good Boy,” he says, adding, “We are in the process of finalising the rest of the cast and crew, but I can say that everyone in the team will be established artistes and technicians. We will start shooting from next month in Chennai, and I’ve planned to complete the project in three schedules.”
