Fahadh Faasil received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the role Shammi. He stepped into the shoes of Shammi, a control freak husband, who appears to be normal in the eyes of the society. The character Shammi was an antagonist in the movie but lacks the usual crookedness and cruelty of villain characters.

Speaking to a tv channel recently, the Malayalam actor revealed that his role was written originally for actor Dhanush. "In Kumbalangi Nights, my role was initially worked on for Dhanush. But at that point, we could not afford him in Malayalam cinema," said Faasil, also one of the producers of the 2019 film.

‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is directed by debutant Madhu C Narayanan. The movie had actors Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Anna Ben, and Fahadh Faasil essaying the lead roles. Nazriya Nazim, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran have produced the movie for which national award-winning scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran crafted the screenplay. Cinematographer Shyju Khalid cranked the camera while Saiju Sreedharan handled the editing of the film. The movie attracted massive positive reviews from both the critic and the audience.
