Fantasy seems to be the flavour of the season, with several filmmmakers in
Kollywood
taking to the genre. The latest film to join the league is Aalambana. Directed by debutant
Pari K Vijay
, the film has
Vaibhav,
Parvati and
Munishkanth in the lead roles.
Ask the director if his film will be a spin off of Aladdin and his adventures, and he says, “The similarity between Aladdin and our film starts and ends with the genie. Like how all horror films have a ghost, we have a genie! Vaibhav plays a boy-next-door character, and Parvati plays his love interest. Munishkanth is the genie.”
The film also stars Kaali Venkat, Anand Raj, Murali Sharma, Kabir Duhan Singh and Dindugal Leoni in important roles. “We will begin shooting from December in Chennai and Pondicherry. A film like this will involve a lot of CG work and our team is working on it,” says Vijay, who has worked as an associate in films like Indru Netru Naalai and Mundasupatti.
